Winter Welcome

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Winter is upon us and cold weather is fast approaching. Please keep in mind when the
temperature is 20* and above the children will continue to line up outside as well as go out for
recess. It is important that they are adequately prepared for the cold temperatures. At this time of
the year every child should be wearing a coat, hat, scarf and gloves when leaving the house in the
morning. When there is snow on the ground boots are necessary.  If you are in need of assistance in
purchasing these items for your children please contact our school social worker Ms. Elise Lagatutta
at extension 141.

Santa and his elves will be visiting Kennedy School on December 17th. The Schiller Park Police
Department has contacted Santa and they will be assisting him as he delivers coloring books and
fresh fruit to the children. Polar Express Day is being held in December 18th.  All children and staff
are invited to wear their pajamas to school. Hot Cocoa and cookies will be served throughout the day.

Please keep in mind school starts at 7:55. Recently we have seen an increase in tardy
students.   Several learning opportunities are missed when your child is late to school. It is important
to model good habits for your children. Ensuring they arrive to school on time lets them know you
value their education. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this manner and keep in mind that
if your child has 10 or more unexcused absences in one school year they are considered truant.

I wish you and your families a blessed holiday full of beautiful memories. Please remember
the magic of the season and set aside some time to see the world through the eyes of a child.

Very Sincerely,
